Abstract

Group 4 metal cations play an important role in organometallic chemistry and in catalysis. Treatment of the (C6F5)2BF⋅OEt2 complex with N-pyrrolyl lithium yields the strong organometallic Lewis acid (N-pyrrolyl)B(C6F5)2 (1), which abstracts alkyl anions from a variety of Group 4 metallocene-alkyl complexes to yield metallocene cation systems.
